This is something I hear quite often from people, what actually is a mystery?
Now there is a lot of answers to that question, it depends on your definition of mystery and what type, whether your book is a suspense mystery or a romantic mystery, it all comes down to one answer.
A Mystery is the unknown of something.
A Mystery is someone being killed, the mystery? Who the killer is.
A Mystery is something being stolen, the mystery? Who the thief is.
A Mystery is a puzzle, something that is in need of being solved.
This is what has brought us all here, because we want to understand mystery better, to be able to write it better.
This is the key to writing a mystery novel, you will need to know what your mystery meaning is.
All mystery novels need a meaning, a puzzle for the readers to solve, this is what brings people in, the mystery of it all and to figure out the meaning of it.
So this is your first step.
